Casual Support Worker in Old Reynella – 5 to 10 hours per week

Enjoy collecting things, photography, or socialising? Want to make a difference in a person’s life?

I am a man in my thirties looking for someone with significant work or life experience who can bring creative thinking to a role that will be both challenging and deeply rewarding.

My love of collecting things, coins, in particular, is important to me and I want to be supported to do this safely and productively. I am interested in veganism and enjoy eating and sometimes cooking vegan food. I have a great sense of humour and am a master of the one-liner. I am inquisitive and enjoy a wide range of music, YouTube videos, often about cars, and binging TV series.

The right candidate will assist me approximately 5-10 hours per week to pursue my interests while being a role model for developing my social connections.  Workday tasks involve facilitating my role as an Electronic Recycling Australia employee, supporting me in managing my home, and assisting me to have positive relationships in my community.

The successful applicant will be patient, have strong social and negotiation skills, and have an appreciation for the complexity of human behaviour. They will be organised, practical, reliable, motivating and enthusiastic. This role involves working closely with my family, my support team leader, and the support team around me to deliver support in line with my vision for a good life.

Hours

The role involves a commitment to fixed weekly shifts but also requires some flexibility to fill in when other team members are unavailable. Specific shift times will be negotiated based on the candidate’s availability. Key shifts we are looking to fill include:

  • Thursday 7-10 pm (ideal to be available)
  • Friday 4-7 pm (a requirement for this role)

Availability for overnights is an asset.

Remuneration and Training

Wages will be paid at level 2.1 Casual base rate (currently $40.26 per hour) and ongoing training will be provided. Salary Packaging may become available as your role grows.

Applications will close at the end of August, however, I will recruit before then if I find the right person.

All applicants must have or be willing to obtain

  • Driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
  • A current NDIS worker screening check
  • First Aid Certificate
