CLP was built on the foundation of families who wanted their young people to live typical lives in their communities.
Our work continues to be focussed on assisting people with disabilities and their families to think broadly about what’s possible as they pursue an inclusive good life.
A home of your own is possible.
A team of workers who are chosen and directed by you, is possible.
Meaningful work drawing on your personal interests and skills is possible.
A network of people who support you and aren’t paid to be there is possible.
Our Community Living facilitators help to guide paid staff as they learn to understand and respect a person’s communication style and the information and time they need to make their own decisions for all aspects of their life.
There is ongoing feedback and mentoring for workers, with the person and their family central to those conversations.
Talking through with your friends is a typical step in decision making. Circle of Support facilitators build the capacity of the person’s unpaid network to support the person.
Micro Enterprise owners have the responsibility of making business decisions, and are supported by a Micro Enterprise Project consultant and their own Enterprise Management Group.
We ask the hard questions and draw on our experience and trusted resources to walk alongside families as they consider the future.
Community Living Services plan for now and the long term, putting things in place to support the person to continue living in the way they wish, even as their family situation may change.
Through Circles of Support we support families to invite trusted people in to be the keepers of knowledge and uphold the family’s values and vision for a good life for their loved one with disability.
In the early steps of the Micro Enterprise process, an Enterprise Management Group is formed. Parents can be part of the group, but may choose to step back. The group continues to meet monthly, supporting the enterprise owner with decisions and planning.
